Character Name: Sucre (Sugar)
Canon: OFF (game)
Age: 20s
Timeline: Sometime between Sucre discovering the element that she takes her name from and her being trapped in the basement in zone 0. She's a little bit addled from an over-use of the element, but not quite strung out to the point of being incapable of caring for herself.

Personality: Sucre ('Sugar' to her fellow addicts closest friends) is probably one of the happiest, most upbeat people you'll ever meet. She prefers to stay positive and optimistic even in the most dire of situations, preferring to laugh in the face of danger, so to speak. She's a firm believer in the concept of mind over matter, and is always quick to provide a happy word to anyone who even remotely appears that they need cheering up; though her words tend to be fairly cryptic in nature, due to the ways the sugar has affected her brain. Unfortunately, this also means that she tends to turn somewhat of a blind eye to the danger she's ever truly in. She'd rather laugh than fight, and she'd rather run than face any of her problems. It's easier than resolving them.

Her happiness comes with a price, however. When forced to face the world without the aid of the substance she calls 'sugar' - which, upon close analysis, shares more chemical properties with your standard tranquilizers than sugar - she's skittish and scared, quick to hide from anything she perceives as 'dangerous', which is most things. Her Sight makes the world a scary place when she has to face it on her own, and she tries very hard to pretend it doesn't exist. She'd much prefer to use her substances to keep her visions down...especially considering that she's been told most of her life that what she sees just couldn't possibly be real. Of course, if she spent some time sober, she'd likely be more than capable of handling herself; but that's something that remains to be seen.

She's not a natural fighter, not by any means. While she can withstand more than her fair share of damage, without her magics she'd have nothing, and she's well aware of it. When backed into a corner, she'll lash out without any real targets, slashing at whatever is in her way. She'd much rather talk her way out of any situation she finds herself caught in, suggesting that there's always a better way to resolve the problem, though her tendency towards the cryptic tends to obscure the true meaning of her words.

History: From day one, Sucre always knew that she was 'different'. The rest of the world laughed at her, at her visions and her words, but she didn't see any point in hiding them. (Why obscure what was so obviously true?) It wasn't her fault the rest of the world was blind.

Over time, her stubborn insistence that the things she saw were real meant the others kept their distance...and then ignored her entirely, as though a lack of acknowledgement would make her go away completely. That was fine with Sucre; she didn't want their blind acceptance, and she found life was easier when she could dance without the encumbrance of the rest of the world's judgement. Thus, she happily skipped her way through life...that is, until Zacharie appeared.

Zacharie was the first person, the only person who didn't discount Sucre as a lunatic. He explained that she wasn't alone in knowing their fates, that there was more to the world than met the eye. He taught her how to listen for the cues of her Puppeteer, how to dance properly without paying mind to what the world wanted you to see.

Maybe that's why her discovery of Sugar was such a tragedy in their friendship.

With the world turning darker every day, with more pollution flooding the skies and the ground, Sucre didn't see a reason to resist the pull that Sugar presented for her. A soporific that blurred her sight, Sucre was more than ready to indulge in it, if only to dull the pain that everyday life gave her. Zacharie indulged her as long as he could stand.

One day, enough was enough, and he called her on her 'problem'. Furious, she defended herself, insisting that she needed the substance, that without it, she'd go mad. Unwilling to see reason, she turned and fled from Zacharie, retreating into the dark shadows of the world, the places undefined by plastics and metals.

In the shadows, she found solace.

It's from the shadows that she's been brought, long before Zacharie found and saved her again, with her mind only lightly dulled by her addiction, and now, in this new place, she's not ready to re-discover her story.

Abilities:
Sight: Sucre sees things. Ghosts, spirits, phantasms - she sees things that other people can't, that other people tell her aren't real. She sees past glamers and illusions, recognizing the truth under the lie, and since those around her insist that she's making things up, she tends to shy away from her abilities. With no control over her Sight, she tends to avoid looking at anyone directly, preferring to smile at them from behind her long bangs.
Her Sight also tends to twist her view of shapeshifters, since they have no 'true' form, and she shies away from them more than most.
Competences: Sucre has a handful of mediocre magic spells that she can summon up in a battle, inflicting a range of damages. However, since she tends to avoid fight unless backed into a corner, she rarely brings them to bear.
